    Rice hulls or husks are the hard protecting coverings of grains of rice. In addition to protecting rice during the growing season, rice hulls can be put to use as building material, fertilizer, insulation material, or fuel. Rice hulls are part of the chaff of the rice.

    Also works as an animal bedding as well!

  • Directions for use

    – Remove any spent bedding and give the area a good clean out from all existing bedding.
    – Apply fresh Rice Hulls to a depth appropriate to the size of the animal. Small animals like mice may only need a depth of 10-20mm and larger animals like horses may need up to 100mm.
    – Over time as your animal expels waste onto the bedding, remove the soiled area and replace with fresh bedding.
    – Once the soiled bedding has been removed often and the absorbency has lessened, start the process again with completely fresh bedding.

    Using in the garden:
    – Remove all existing weeds from the area to be mulched.
    – If you are using rice hulls for the first time, you’ll need to spread an even layer to a depth of 40-100 mm.
    – If you are re-mulching existing areas, you’ll need to spread an even layer to a depth of 20-40 mm.
    – Ensure the mulch does not contact the stems of your plants.
    – Rice hulls is packaged completely dry, so once spread, water in well to improve water retention and wind resistance.
